Dr. Szilárd Pál: „the development of our colleagues is directly related to the success of our faculty”

The development of colleagues walks hand in hand with the success of the Pécs Faculty of Pharmacy, therefore, according to dr. Szilárd Pál vice-dean for organisational development and relations, easy to follow career paths and presenting career advancement possibilities is necessary. Aside from his faculty tasks, the vice-dean is also active as a researcher: lately he has been focusing on 3D medicine printing and artificial intelligence-based process optimisation.

The leadership of the Faculty of Pharmacy underwent changes on October 1, 2023. Dr. András Fittler replaced dr. Lajos Botz as dean, and dr. Zsuzsanna Rozmer, dr. Krisztián Kvell and dr. Szilárd Pál will support his work as vice-deans. Their final appointment happened in May 2024.

“As vice-dean for organisational development and relations, my goal is to contribute in creating a transparent and forward-looking workplace for the employees of the University of Pécs Faculty of Pharmacy” – introduces his posting dr. Szilárd Pál.

“I believe that the development of our colleagues is directly related to the success of our faculty, therefore I strive to offer a clear career path for everyone, where the milestones of professional advancement are clear and achievable”.

As he said, the maintenance and development of the internal and external relationship network of the Pécs Faculty of Pharmacy, and the organisation of its events all belong to him, in order to efficiently support the seamless cooperation of the academic and market sectors.

He explained that when it comes to strategic goals and planning, his areas also have long-term plans matching the all-encompassing strategy of the University of Pécs. In his segment, there are detailed, yearly goals set in order to ensure that the Pécs Faculty of Pharmacy remains strong and innovative. These goals include, among others, increasing the mobility of colleagues, and increasing the quality of events as well.

Aside form his tasks as a vice-dean, dr. Szilárd Pál is also active as a topic supervisor for the Undergraduate Research Society (TDK) and as a researcher. At the beginning of my career as a researcher, I started in the fantastic world of nanotechnology, and later, during my doctoral work, I dealt with solid medicine-transporting systems, for example granules and pellets. I am still active in this field to this day. In the last few years, my field of research has expanded: 3D medicine printing and artificial intelligence-based process optimisation were added to my repertoire, in the spirit of efficiency and innovation” – he said.
