On February 15, 2025, the Alumni Day and the 12th Pécs Faculty of Pharmacy Ball were jointly organized by the University of Pécs Faculty of Pharmacy, the Cholnoky László Pharmacy and Biotechnologist Collegium, and the Student Union of the UP Faculty of Pharmacy.
Alumni Day – returning to roots
Participants gathered at the Rókus Street campus for a nostalgic lecture and practical workshops to reminisce about their university years. The program commenced with a lecture by Professor Lajos Botz, followed by former pharmacy students revisiting the Institute of Pharmacognosy, where Professor Györgyi Horváth conducted a seminar. Practical workshops were led by Dr. Klára Mayer and Dr. Szilárd Pál at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy, while Dr. Zsuzsanna Rozmer welcomed attendees at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. The event not only provided an opportunity to recall shared memories but also fostered professional networking.
The 12th UP Faculty of Pharmacy Ball with nearly 300 attendees
In the evening, the Aula of the University of Pécs Medical School hosted the 12th UP Faculty of Pharmacy Ball, organized jointly by the UP Faculty of Pharmacy, the Cholnoky László Pharmacy and Biotechnologist Collegium, and the UP Faculty of Pharmacy Student Union.
The event was not just a celebration but also served a charitable purpose: all proceeds supported the Foundation for Pharmacy Education at the University of Pécs, aiding the educational and research endeavors of the faculty.
The event was inaugurated by Dean András Fittler and Virág Ángyán, President of the Cholnoky László Collegium. Following tradition, the Patronus Alumnorum Pharmaciae award was presented, decided by graduating pharmacy students, with this year's recipient being Dr. Ádám Horváth. In a special addition this year, the first-ever Patronus Alumnorum Biotechnologiae award was presented to Professor Judit Pongrácz, recognizing her contributions.
The evening's ambiance was enhanced by two spectacular performances. First, Maisha Maliha Alam, a second-year biotechnology student, captivated the audience with a lyrical song, followed by an energetic performance to set the ballroom mood. Subsequently, the PTE Dance Ensemble and the PTE PEAC Cheerleading Team delivered a spectacular show, transporting viewers into the world of variety entertainment.
The festive dinner was catered by Umami Café and Restaurant.
