Third- and fourth-year pharmacy students put their theoretical and practical knowledge to the test at this year’s “Károly Than” Academic Competition, organized by the Institute of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Pécs. Held annually, the in-house competition provides students with the opportunity not only to challenge themselves academically, but also to earn exemptions from certain examination requirements based on their performance.
This year, a total of 21 students took part in the competition – 13 from the third year and 8 from the fourth year. The event consisted of two rounds: a written theoretical test followed by a practical task involving titrimetric analysis in the laboratory.
In the third-year category, Kristóf Erát and Ádám Lauer shared first place, followed by Patrik Vékony in second place and Tamás Kaufmann in third. Based on their results, Kristóf Erát and Ádám Lauer are exempted from taking the Pharmaceutical Chemistry 2 final exam and will receive an excellent grade. Patrik Vékony, Tamás Kaufmann, Péter Závodi, and Zsófia Gyurka are exempted from the written preliminary part of the exam.
Among the fourth-year students, Ferenc Rómeó Fritz achieved the best result. The second place was shared by László Kőműves and Jeff Muchiri Waweru, while Tamás Sinkovics came in third.
All students who placed in the competition are exempted from the written preliminary section of the Pharmaceutical Chemistry final examination. In addition to academic recognition, the winners were also awarded book vouchers.
The Institute sincerely thanks all participants for their involvement and congratulates the winners on their achievements, wishing everyone continued success.
